He stopped me while driving his big, white, expensive SUV on 6th Avenue and 19th Street in Manhattan... wanting directions to the Lincoln Tunnel. He asked if I spoke Italian, which I do a little bit... (my downfall, his gain). I noticed that when he shook my hand, he held onto it longer than usual... like in a familiar fashion, but it felt like a red flag which I ignored.
Then, he said he just finished a month at the Jacob Javitz Center and was heading to the Airport and didn't want to pay the 20% taxes on the flight home. I told him I had no money, that all my money was going to my creative projects... but I still ended up going to my ATM (he came with me, which was another red flag, along with other things like... to get in the car to try them on "I don't need the advertising"). He even took a lighter to the leather (if it is even leather or perhaps fire retardant material -- good for getting out of fires, at least! :) to demonstrate the quality of the leather.
He did the same 2 free, one for $500 (I ended up giving him $100)... but after he left I discovered there were only 2 not 3 in the Armani Reportage bag.
Before he we parted I asked him for his contact info, he gave me an Italian phone number (which I thought it was odd he had to copy it from his cell phone... I almost asked him "how long have you lived at your place in Italy?!" but I didn't).
I am really pissed, as I figured that at least I could sell them and make my money back or even a small profit, for my troubles... but then I ran into these sites and have discovered I have been had on some level. It still seems that the jackets are jackets and can be used... I do want to find out if they are real or not, etc... how do you know???
The bottom line is to keep it simple... Trust Your Instincts!

2. Written by Same Story in Las Vegas Feb 10 on February 12, 2011 from laguna beach, california, US I fell for this one as well. I paid $200 for three jackets with RGA/Reportage label. I feel like a fool because all i needed to do is read the label that shows the shell is poly/urathane something or other and clearly not leather. His story was the same, directions to airport, needs cash and doesnt want to pay tariff on coats that he couldnt sell at a show in Bellagio, blah blah blah. He wanted $800 for 8 jackets. I told him $200 is all i was going to give him and he gave me 3 of them. they fit well and look nice, eventhogh they are fake. Ironically if the guy was honest and told me he has fake jackets for $70 each, i probably would have bought the same three. I dont feel too bad since i'll likely get some wear out of these. but the fact that its a scam and i fell for it really burns my ar$e.
3. Written by Bozo on January 12, 2011 from toronto, ontario, CA Well, I got nailed too by this guy in Toronto Canada in November 2010. I was walking my dog when he stopped me. He was driving a black suv. I gave him $350 for 4 jackets, 2 of which I discovered were 'way too large when I got home! Afterwards I thought, how do I know he even owned the jackets, they could be stolen. I almost called the cops, but didn't get his licence number. Anyway, the jackets that fit are okay, and I gave the others to charity.
4. Written by Hans on October 4, 2010 from berlin, berlin, DE This trick seems to work worldwide! To me it happened on a parking-place on a German Autobahn ( A 9 near Leipzig ). The man asked me for a direction, then complained not having enough money for gasolin to return to his home in Lago di Garda. He offered me two jackets as a gift, then asked for a finacial help on his way home. Thanks God:only gave him 70 Euro for one tankfilling! He handed me a visiting card: "R.G.A. Italy - Manager Moda Italiana - SIRMIONE - Lago di Garda". The phone number is false as well as the e-mail address " "

9. Written by Anonymous on October 17, 2009 from cupertino, california, US Yea same thing happened to my dad. He went to the bank to deposit money then some Italian guy came up to beggin for twenty dollars to eat. He also asked my dad to buy his jackets to pay off his car loan. He told some sob story saying that he came from Italy but then gambled all of his money away at the Bay 101 Casino and he wanted to go back to Italy. He said that he was the manager of Reportage R.G.A clothing store in Italy he even showed his card and passport. He said that he would sell his 4 leather jackets for only 130 dollars and then he started begging some more and crying. My dad felt bad for him so he bought the jackets and gave him 20 dollars more. When I came home and he told me what happened he was excited bout the jackets since they seemed like a good deal and were really nice. I didn\'t believe that a guy could lose all of his money but still have 4 brand new name brand Italian jackets so I went on the internet to look it up and found all of these scam reports. Also if you look at the tailoring really closely the sewing is a bit slopy in the inside and the business card is cut by hand and looks like it was printed from a computer. Advice to everyone:- If an Italian guy comes up to you begging to buy his jackets dont do because honestly how can someone with no money or anything have expensive jackets.-The jackets are most likely hand made and although nice material, a fake brand.-There is usually more than one guy, one guy was waiting in the car and supposely doesn\'t know english.-There are many typos in the tags and read his business card carefully because the company name is says Milano Italia but if you think about it its a place the Italian way of saying Milan Italy. -The tailoring is kinda sloppy if you look closely and businesses usually check their products before producing them.- He drives a white SUV or van idk something like that and their is most likely more than one guy.- He\'s going to tell you a sob story but he\'s faking it.- If you think about if he\'s a mangager of a name branded Italian how can he lose so much money gambling and still afford to get fuel for his rented car.- The cards are handcut and hand made so they are not professional business cards. They have a picture of a suit on them and they say:A.C GA COLLECTIONZ. RaffaelemanagerMilano Italiaphone 01129081290376fax 024566624Gucci Armani GA Collection- Honestly just don\'t trust people from the streets giving sob stories about cash problems trying to sell you something. It\'s just common sense. Especially since they\'re strangers and there really is no real proof.- Finally this guy is mainly scamming people in California and New York. I live here in San-Jose, CA. So People in these states be especially aware and other states too. Tell people about this.BTW If you are the guy who scammed my dad and is selling these fake branded Reportage R.G.A leather jackets sees this GO TO *** *** AND I HOPE YOU SUFFER GREATLY.
10. Written by Victor on October 17, 2009 from cupertino, california, US My dad just got scammed by someone like that. I suggest that anyone reading this should spread the word and help raise awareness for these crooks. The info is: *Brand name- Reportage R.G.A Armani Jackets/ *Drives- White SUV or Van-like vehicle/ *They say they come from Italy./ *They make up some kind of story of being short on money.
